Some babies do get teeth very early in life. Some may even be born with teeth.
Teeth present at birth are called natal teeth, and teeth that erupts at birth are called neonatal teeth. Some suggest the hereditary linkage with these early baby teeth. Others show connection between the presence of these early baby teeth with environmental factors and various syndromes.
But in most cases, is could be just caused by the placement of a ‘tooth germ’ or ‘tooth bud’ which is to near to the gum surface, hence the early eruption.
Usually parents of the baby should not worry unless the teeth are causing discomfort to the mother and baby. There is also the danger of aspiration of the teeth if it is very mobile.
Extraction is usually done with topical anaesthesia or sometimes without it.
