I would prefer a person to have his or her own original, God-given teeth instead of having synthetic and man-made replacements in the mouth. Some people might think having the originals is of high maintenance, and it is only if you think of it that way. I disagree as there are no other man-made replacements capable of matching the versatility and vitality of the originals.

Unfortunately things do happen, may it be caused by our own neglect or other unforseen circumstances.

Without teeth, one could not chew and eat enjoyably. One could not hope to be seen with confidence. It is then imperative to have replacements for the lost.

There are a few alternatives…

  • Dentures - these synthetic teeth on an acrylic base would be the cheapest alternative and has been used throughout the years
  • Bridges - porcelain fused metals or sometimes full metal artificial teeth would need anchoring at adjacent teeth to replace the lost ones
  • Dental implants - although this is not new, implants are basically replacing the lost teeth with an almost exact artificial copy

In this series of postings I would discuss the different alternatives to teeth replacements. Although I hope you would not need them but it would be good to know if teeth are lost due to unforseen circumstances in the future.

Cheers
