Today marks the start of my third year of service as a dental surgeon. A lot has happened within the last two years, mostly happening both in Batu Pahat and currently in Muar.
A graduate with a degree in dental surgery would have to serve three years of compulsory service before being allowed to venture out on his/her own. Some might see this as a burden or a disadvantage, but after two years I believe that the compulsory service would do more good than harm.
In my two years, I had gained much more experience in out patient treatment compared to 3 years of clinical studies during the university days. Getting exposed to a variety of cases and people, one tends to develop the necessary skills and confidence quickly. Most of my former colleagues during our university days are already taking steps into studying postgraduate degrees. The desire and development of interests are nutured within the first years. I have grown my own interest in orthodontics and aesthetic dentistry, specifically the application of composite resin-based restorative materials.
As I enter my third year of service, I aim to continue to provide a high level of primary dental care to my patients. I’m also planning to study for the Certificate in Dental Implantology which is planned to commence in August 2007 associated with Osstem Malaysia Sdn. Bhd.
I’m currently based in north Johore, but hopefully would be getting approval for transfer back to the Klang Valley soon (next allocation meeting around end of this coming week).
Let’s continue to strive for better oral health.
Cheers ![]()
