A new chapter of my internet odyssey. Let us examine my short history of dabbling in the internet…
As I remember, the year was around the mid-90s. Internet was a new phenomenon and the kids my age learned fast and caught on the internet bug. At that time, internet connection meant that kids didn’t need to go places to meet up with their peers, all can be done eventhough there are parents’ imposed curfews/groundings. It also meant that the world is virtually an open field to get new friends. Such was the effect of the internet, MiRC blossomed. Dial-up speeds generally meant nothing during that time, frequent disconnections are just met with shrugs and a mad scramble to get connected again.
I played around with the internet and soon I got bored. I stumbled upon the predecessor of Mozilla’s Firefox, the Netscape Navigator. Bundled with the Navigator was the Netscape Communicator, a software much similar to an ancient Microsoft Frontpage and this got me started. Creating stupidly simple websites by today’s standards through the Communicator helped me understand the basics of HTML and web designing. It was a website for my high school class and evolved into several versions before I stopped momentarily due to busy college and university days.
Nothing much happened throughout my college and university days. Dental school had most of my time along with relationships. Once I started working as a dental surgeon did I find some time at home and this sparked my interest again in the internet. I couldn’t really be without internet connection, I would feel disoriented really, but of course give me a couple of days I could adapt to it.
Blogging has been big these past few years. Various blogging methods and topics I had run through did not hold my interest for long. Perhaps I’m just not a blogger. Or perhaps millions of bytes spent on posting rantings by other people just got me bored. Well I find myself here again typing words into my Wordpress-run website trying to find solace and ignite my brain previously overflowing with ideas.
Lets see how it goes. I’ll not venture into money making schemes or political analysis and what not, I’ll just be myself. A Digital Dental Surgeon.
Cheers!
