Not updating much lately, well obviously really, been busy with work. I’m piled up in paperwork as now I’m more or less a full time paper pusher. Huh? A dental surgeon pushing paper you say? Well, it is not as weird as you might think. In the realm of Public Health, pushing paper is part and parcel of the job. I would’ve never thought that I would be doing things related to Public Health ever, but somehow I’m getting the hang of it. I’m not saying I like it but I do find this as an opportunity for me to explore the dry side of dentistry (no offence intended ;)).
I’m was appointed to the ICT unit.. uhh.. Information and Communication Technology unit for the uninitiated. Being a dental surgeon with a bit of ICT background (self learnt with no professional training, ala William Hung of the Americal Idol fame) I was called to assist in the development and maintenance of the Oral Health Division’s website. It’s a Xoops based portal which is much to my dislike as I’m a Mambo/Joomla supporter. Oh well, it’ll have to make do for now. Visitors to the website would be able to download various oral health related pamphlets and such (although majority are in the Malay language) in pdf format. Soon there will be FAQs related to practicing dentistry in Malaysia. Oh, and there is the list of recognised dental degrees should anyone be interested in (listed in the Section 12(1) of the Dental Act 1971).
I had the opportunity to visit the Dewan Rakyat recently on the 20th May 2008. I had hoped that the Dewan would boil as Chedet had announced his resignation from UMNO the night before. Alas, the Dewan was sedated to my dismay. The only reference during the day was a press conference outside of the Dewan during lunch. Luckily I had Serre as my partner for the day, an officer from the Food Safety & Quality Division. She’s the same age as I am, formerly from Sekolah Tun Fatimah(STF). Hmm.. how wonderfully small the world is, as my friends in STF are her friends and her friends are my friends as well. Thanks to Serre I wasn’t bored during the sedated Dewan Rakyat session (not like one other officer who snored so pronouncely loud). Heh.
On another note, I’m also busy with my next project. Travel Health Asia. The idea behind this project will be revealed soon…
Last but not least,
Here’s an early HAPPY BIRTHDAY to my lovely sister who just started work as a legal exec. Have a long & prosperous life sis!
Cheers ![]()
