Come June, the Malaysian Dental Association (MDA) would have it’s Annual General Meeting alongside a scientific convention and trade exhibition and this year it is held in Hotel Istana. As always, my wife and I are the regular attendees and this year our little baby boy also came along (albeit still in the womb ;)).
Hotel Istana is not a good venue for this event, as shown by the January event. Quite limited space for the trade exhibition and absurd seating during lunch (make that no seating) is inappropriate for such an event. Anyhow, an MDA official told me that the Association may be shifting to a better venue next year (Sunway Convention Centre again? Or perhaps the Putrajaya International Convention Centre?).
Yesterday and today was as usual, shopping, getting free goodies and of course a six month supply of toothpastes and toothbrushes. My wife bought a few sets of Protaper files for her endodontic practice and all I got was a pair of keychains with chrome canine teeth dangling from it :). I did order a bone splitting kit and a sinus kit from Osstem (using my RM7k redemption voucher) and hopefully be getting it in the coming weeks.
Today’s the AGM of the Association and I did set my mind on going. Somehow we ended up at the Pavillion with my wife going shopping with her best friend and our former classmate during dental school and myself sipping Starbucks while typing this entry. I’m not really fond of window shopping, I prefer to let it be done by the pros (my wife and her girlfriend).
Met a few friends at the event, former lecturers, colleagues, former classmates of both dental school and the Osstem implant course, as well as some new friends. After attending a few events, I do feel connected to the other dental surgeons as we got to know more and more practitioners. I’d say that this year’s event is a networking success.
