It’s lunch hour and I’m bored. Went down with some colleagues to Anjung thinking that I could get some rice with ikan keli masak lemak but in the end, I only managed to buy an issue of The Star instead. Being in crowded places just turns me off.

I read the title of this post and felt like busting some bacteria with a light saber! I’ve always wanted to wield a ruby coloured light saber just like Darth Vader.

Anyhow on a more serious thought, went back to my cubicle and surfed up some things. I came across a post about using Light Therapy to Clean Your Teeth in MMR which relates to a BBC report.

It seems that the Leeds Dental Institute has been experimenting on a mouthwash that contain antibacterial molecules which would then penetrate plaque-producing bacteria. These molecules would then be activated by bright light and the bacteria would then be destroyed. This research is based on some principles used in skin cancer treatments.

Talk about killing from the inside!

Another research is about applying a solution to the surface enamel and the proteins within the solution would attract calcium thus making it possible for the tooth to repatch itself more like the Terminator T-1000 I suppose.

Cool concept. I do hope the people in LDI would be continuing the research and this would signal a new frontier in oral healthcare.

Cheers
