It’s like doing a Jedi Mind-Trick to numb you before the dental surgeon starts drilling your teeth. I’d like to try it once although I do have some reservations on the effectiveness of hypnosis.
Pain during surgery is no joke, especially when you deal directly (or even indirectly) with patients with very low pain threshold. If it can be done, just like acupuncture in the series Private Practice, then perhaps it would be a good alternative for anaesthetics.
More on the subject from the BBC.
