I’ve got a new toy! The PC Fair did have some good deals, and although I didn’t atted the Fair per se, I did ge a RM200 rebate on my new toy.
I’ve always wanted a smaller laptop just like my sis’ which is a Dell 12″. I decided not to get a Dell but opted for a HP unit instead. I was eyeing on the latest ultra-mobile PCs which has hit the market, namely the Asus EEE PC, HP Mini Notebook and Acer Aspire One series and almost got the HP Mini. But for slightly more money, I’ve got myself HP’s 12″ tablet!
On the whole, I’m quite happy with the HP tx2520au unit. With a rebate of RM200, I plonked in another 2GB ram (to a total of 4GB) for a meagre RM150. Talk about bargains these days!
It did take me a while to get used to the small keyboard, as I’m quite used to the larger 15″ Dell unit. The tablet is also a revelation, primarily because I’ve never used a tablet before. It does make it simpler to create and modify images with the stylus as opposed to using the mouse, though the Wacom Penabled software bundled with the system did not acknowledge my name and kept putting it as Nazi in plural form (with the ‘S’). It is just a minor gripe though, it is possible to key in the exact output with the software so that the computer recognizes it my real name.
The HP is a bit noisy and it does give quite high amounts of heat. Other than that, the tablet is doing just fine.
I’ll be looking forward to make the tx2520au be the portable companion (especially on my trips to Starbucks!). ![]()

Horaayy..there are 2 comment(s) for me so far ;)
Yo bro, i’m thinking of getting the tablet pc. After two weeks, what’s your comments on it? Buy or no buy? Thanks, Regards, Sean
Hi Sean,
I’m liking the HP tablet very much although there are some niggling flaws. First of all, the tablet generates quite a lot of heat, particularly near the cooling fan and from the right hand side of the tablet monitor. It does need a bit more power, eventhough i’ve already upgraded to 4GB of RAM.
All in all for the price (PC Fair price) i think it is a good buy considering other tablets would need u to stretch ur pockets much deeper.
If u have deep pockets, forego the HP and go for ones with faster processors. Otherwise, the HP is fine as it is.
