Hi! I’m Dr Nazli Haffiz. I’m a practicing dentist and owner of this website. I’d like to share my experience as well as knowledge in regards to oral health as well as other stuff that I have a lot of passion for.
Funny thing I’m a dentist.
It’s funny that I ended up being a dentist for the past 12 years or so. I was the scrawny kid who didn’t like to brush my teeth and had many cavities in my milk teeth. I had bleeding gums like everybody else and didn’t really like to go to the dentist for dental scaling which my mum made me do every 6 months. I’m blessed to have mum sending me regularly to the dentist and even for a set of braces when I was 14 years old.
I’ve put my fingers in (almost) all of the dentists’ jars.
Fast forward more than 2 decades, here I am practicing as a dentist. I’ve done most of the things that a dentist could be doing in Malaysia from working in the civil service, in acadaemia, in private practice and now in corporate dentistry. The only thing that I’ve not had my hands on is being an officer in the Ministry of Defence. Currently I’m serving as a subject matter expert in a multinational company which has a dental division providing materials for clinical application of dentists. I basically run training programmes for the use of these materials and regularly engage speakers or ‘Key Opinion Leaders’ to conduct these trainings. I still practice clinical dentistry as my first love was actually doing decent aesthetic resin composite fillings and a wee bit of orthodontics.
A dentist with a bit of IT.
This isn’t the first time for me to blog, I’ve had dozens of websites over the years, experimenting on various platforms from WordPress to Joomla. An interesting story too because I got transferred back to my hometown from my interstate posting because the Oral Health Division, Putrajaya back then needed a dentist with some skills with the internet to take care of their IT stuff. So hopefully this time, I could focus more on utilising the wee bit of the self-taught IT knowledge I have to push more towards creating awareness in oral health, sharing knowledge about dentistry and everything else in between.
